Dear Spuzz, Steve Nordby and Christine Hennig:

Your reviews totally crack me up. They are brilliant, hilarious and on the mark. Always good for finding the best stuff first, and eventually maybe I'll get around to the rest.

It would be great to see a list of your top 10 movies at this site. Maybe also list of top 10 movies not at this site - promotional, propaganda, or even just regular movie movies.

Thanks! :)

I havent watched all the movies yet on here, so it's impossible to choose the best movies on this site, because it's probably changing from week to week.. BUT.. just for you! I'll think about all that I have seen and put out a top 10 for you from what I've seen so far.. Sort of like a 'Rick's Picks' as it can change..
As for movies from other sites.. there are movies on other sites? lol One site at a time my friend! But there are some cool movies I'll give you the links for in another report..

Bill

Dang! I had a list and just hit the wrong key and deleted it all!

Let's see... starting over...

The Relaxed Wife
American Look
One Got Fat
Match Your Mood
Boys Beware
Age 13
Perversion for Profit
A is for Atom
Safety: In Danger out of Doors
What it Means to be an American

Gosh, I'm sure Spuzz or Christine will remind me that I've left off something great. Except Age 13, I didn't mention any of the great 1950's social guidance films, not to mention all the atomic safety, hyper-capitalist hysterics... So much to watch! So little time!

alright, here are 10. What I've done is I went through the "Must Sees" on this site, and I've highlighted some films which i've really enjoyed but I think have been slightly neglected..
Century 21 Calling
Live and Let Live
Frigidaire Finale 1957
Modes of the Moment
Once Upon a Honeymoon
Delicious Dishes
Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco (This is a neglected classic! (189 downloads only? It's got Frank Sinatra for darn sakes!))
Home Electrical, The (This is GREAT)
Soundie - Chime Bells
Date With Your Family (I think this is my fave movie here.. A classic of epic proportions)

Sorry it took me so long to reply to this. I had to respond to a family emergency and that kept me away from my ephemera-watching for awhile.

Anyway...thanks for the compliment. I have *lots* of favorite films. Handily enough, I have ten categories for ephemera, so I will pick one from each category, making a Prelinger and a non-Prelinger list, as requested.

Prelinger List:

Commercial: Bounty Paper Towels
Early Film & TV: America Goes Over
Educational: The Home Economics Story
Hollywood: The Hut-Sut Song
Industrial: A Case of Spring Fever
Military & Propaganda: Duck and Cover
News: no Prelinger film has made 5 stars in this category yet
Outtakes & Obscurities: ditto
Public Service: Angry Boy
Sleaze & Outsider: Coffee House Rendezvous

Non-Prelinger (sources listed)

Commercial: Mr. B Natural (MST3K Episode #319: War of the Colossal Beast)
Early Film & TV: The Buckskin Kid (TV Turkeys)
Educational: Watch Out for Poisons! (Campy Classroom Classics, Vol. 4)
Hollywood: Monsters Crash the Pajama Party (Monsters Crash the Pajama Party Spook Show Spectacular)
Industrial: Ellis in Freedomland (Hollywood's Attic)
Military & Propaganda: Kill or Be Killed (Americans in War)
News: Feed (First Run Features)
Outtakes & Obscurities: Chicago Television (Hollywood's Attic)
Public Service: Time Out for Trouble (Our Secret Century, Vol. 4: Menace & Jeopardy)
Sleaze & Outsider: Deafula (Video Screams)

Keep in mind that there's lots of films on the Prelinger site that I haven't seen yet, and that I work alphabetically, so there's a bias toward films at the beginning of the alphabet (because I've seen more of those). My favorites should change as I see more films.
